A pickup truck carrying coconuts lost control, collided with a parked vehicle, and crashed into a tree, causing it to fall into a ditch.
The driver, a 34 year old man named Rungroj, was declared dead at the scene. The incident occurred at 4.40am today, March 5, on Phetkasem Road, inbound to Bangkok, at kilometre marker 177+200 in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi province.
Police Lieutenant Butsakorn Wongsaroj, an investigator at Cha-am Police Station, received the report and responded promptly with Sawang Sanphet rescue team and Cha-am highway rescue.

Upon arrival, rescuers found a Nissan pickup truck with Bangkok registration, which had been sideswiped on the right side. The vehicle was pushed to the roadside but fortunately, the driver remained unharmed despite the extensive damage to the vehicle.
Nearby, police discovered an Isuzu pickup truck registered in Chumphon, fully loaded with coconuts. It had collided with the parked Nissan before crashing into a roadside tree, resulting in the vehicle landing in a roadside ditch and sustaining severe damage. The driver, Rungroj, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescue workers transported the deceased to Cha-am Hospital for a preliminary examination. Doctors at Cha-am Hospital recommended transferring the body to Phrachomklao Hospital in Phetchaburi for a more detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The driver of the Nissan, 48 year old Lek, recounted the events leading to the accident. He explained that he was driving from Hua Hin towards Bang Pa-in but stopped on the roadside to check his GPS as he was unfamiliar with the route, reported KhaoSod.
Suddenly, the Isuzu truck driven by the deceased sideswiped the rear right side of his vehicle, causing it to veer into the tree and ultimately fall into the ditch. Following the incident, Lek promptly notified the police for assistance.
