Unemployed man found dead in pickup truck in Chanthaburi
A man, who had been unemployed for several months, visited a friend’s home to return an item but ended up sleeping in a vehicle outside. He was later found dead.
Yesterday, February 2, at 7.30pm, Makharm district police received a report from 64 year old Jeerasak, a resident of a housing estate located on Ban Nong Na Rong Road in Makham district, Chanthaburi province. He reported a mysterious death inside a pickup truck.
Upon arrival, police and volunteers from the Sawang Katanyu Chanthaburi Foundation discovered a green Toyota pickup truck, registration บจ 5619 Chanthaburi, parked in front of a semi-detached house.
Inside, the body of 50 year old Boonkerd from Lan Krabue district, Kamphaeng Phet province, was found lying on its side, with legs in the back passenger area and the torso and head on the driver’s seat. Vomit was found on the seat, with tissues scattered on the floor, alongside Boonkerd’s black motorcycle, registration 1 กต 3568 Chanthaburi, parked nearby.
According to 42 year old friend Chamnarn from Sisaket province, Boonkerd previously worked as a driver for a private company but had been unemployed for approximately two to three months. Boonkerd often sought assistance in finding work due to financial struggles.
On the morning of the incident, Boonkerd returned a charger to Chamnarn’s house, appearing intoxicated. Their conversation was brief as Chamnarn was unwell and retired to bed.
Later, Chamnarn’s wife mentioned Boonkerd was sleeping in their pickup truck. At midday, Chamnarn checked on him and heard breathing.
However, by evening, Boonkerd was still unresponsive. Upon touch, Chamnarn found him cold and dead, prompting him to inform Jeerasak to contact the police for further investigation.
Jeerasak corroborated this account, noting that he observed Boonkerd riding his motorcycle to return the item to the friend he used to work with. Boonkerd appeared intoxicated before sleeping in the truck, where he was later discovered dead, reported KahoSod.
The initial investigation did not reveal the cause of death, leading to coordination with rescue volunteers to transport Boonkerd’s body to Phra Pok Klao Hospital for an autopsy. The results will determine the exact cause of death before the body is returned to his family for religious rites.
