Navy conscript arrested for attempting to assault teen in Chon Buri

Fake identity unravels as military faces backlash over youth exploitation

A 22 year old navy conscript, known as Bank, has been arrested after allegedly impersonating a police informant to lure a 14 year old girl from her home in Sattahip district, Chon Buri province.

On June 8 at approximately 11.30pm, the suspect is said to have threatened the girl with arrest over possessing an e-cigarette, leading her into a banana grove. There, he reportedly attempted to assault her, but she managed to escape after kicking him and returned home with bruises.

Following the incident, the girl’s mother, a 36 year old, reported the matter to Sattahip police. Yesterday, June 11, Police Colonel Komsan Kamtunkaew, along with other police officials and naval personnel, apprehended Bank, who confessed during interrogation. The navy, with cooperation from its senior command, assisted in the arrest and has taken a firm stance against any form of legal violation by its personnel.

Further investigations revealed that Bank had previously committed a similar offence in April, targeting another 14 year old girl. He allegedly lured her to a wooded area near kilometre 10 in Phlu Ta Luang subdistrict, Sattahip district, Chon Buri.

The victim’s guardians reported the incident to Phlu Ta Luang police, leading to a broader investigation into potential additional victims, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, in Samut Songkhram province, a 33 year old man is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing his stepdaughter since she was in fifth grade, ultimately fathering a now four year old child.

Disturbingly, the girl’s mother allegedly ignored the abuse and instead chose to distance herself from her daughter rather than confront the situation. Victim advocate Chalida “Ton Aor” Palamat accompanied the victim and her two sisters, 26 year old A, 20 year old B, and 14 year old C, to file a formal complaint at Lad Yai Police Station.

Samut Songkhram Provincial Police Commander, Police Major General Somphop Kuhawichanon, has launched an investigation alongside other officials. Although the suspect, identified as Thaksin, remains at large, police have located his 62 year old mother, Bangon, as part of the ongoing inquiry.
