Police are searching for a man suspected of brutally killing his wife with a hammer, leaving her body in their apartment for five days before neighbours discovered it. The incident occurred in an unnamed apartment complex in Bangkok’s Bang Bon district.

Police received a report at 7pm yesterday, September 7, and Deputy Inspector Sarayut Santat of Bang Khun Thian Police Station responded to the scene along with forensic experts from Siriraj Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

The victim, identified as Su Tang Dang Nguy, a 39 year old Myanmar national and fresh shrimp vendor at Mahachai Market, was found in apartment 91/177 on the third floor.

She was lying face down in a pool of blood with a severe head injury, indicating she had been struck with a hammer found nearby. Her body, partially clothed with a sarong covering the lower half, appeared to have been decomposing for approximately five days.

Neighbours reported a foul odour emanating from the apartment, prompting them to alert the building owner. The victim’s child unlocked the room from the outside, revealing the grim scene. Bun Chu, a 33 year old Myanmar national renting the apartment opposite, mentioned hearing the couple arguing around 9pm four or five days ago.

After that night, neither Su Tang nor her husband, Tun Tun Myint, who is also a Myanmar national and worked with Su Tang at the market, were seen again. Tun Tun Myint reportedly fled with their pet poodle following the incident, reported KhaoSod.

Forensic officers collected evidence, including bloodstained fingerprints and footprints from the crime scene. They also review CCTV footage from the building to identify suspects.
