Laotian man arrested for secret filming in public restrooms
A Laotian man has been arrested for secretly filming women, particularly young girls, in public restrooms and selling the footage to private groups. The suspect, identified as a 31 year old man confessed to the crime, which generated hundreds of thousands of baht.
Yesterday, August 7, law enforcement officials, including Pattarawit Keetamotaneeyakul, the Trang Provincial Police Commissioner, along with Rattakhon Phakdiwanich, the Provincial Police Investigation Superintendent, and Phongpasit Thongduang, the Rassada Police Station Superintendent, announced the arrest of Inkhamphane.
The investigation began after a 16 year old girl and other victims reported that hidden camera videos of them in public restrooms were circulating online and in private groups. Concerned citizens provided police with video links, which led police to identify Inkhamphane as the perpetrator.
Digital investigation units, including the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (TICAC) and other relevant officers, raided Inkhamphane’s residence on Phisan Sima Rak Road in Huai Yot District, Trang Province. During the search, they seized mobile phones, computers, and hidden cameras.
Inkhamphane admitted to recording the videos and selling them in private groups using an account under the name of Puncharat, who he claimed was his stepmother. Customers paid 100 baht (US$3) per week for access to the videos.
Inkhamphane had been operating for some time, primarily setting up hidden cameras in public restrooms at a local market in Rassada District and other public places. Trang Provincial Police Commissioner stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine if others are involved. Initial findings indicate multiple victims and significant financial transactions from selling the footage, amounting to hundreds of thousands of baht.
Following the arrest, police took Inkhamphane to various locations to reconstruct the crime scenes as part of his confession. He faces charges of human trafficking and distributing obscene materials. Inkhamphane has been handed over to Rassada Police Station for further legal proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
Police continue to investigate the extent of Inkhamphane’s activities and whether any accomplices were involved in the operation.
