Husband accidentally shoots wife in Nakhon Si Thammarat, flees

A tragic incident occurred in Nakhon Si Thammarat, where a husband accidentally discharged a firearm, resulting in the death of his wife. He sought help from neighbours before fleeing on a motorcycle. Police are urgently pursuing the suspect and investigating the cause.

Police reported that the incident took place yesterday, October 14. Phongwut Wutipong, an investigator at Ron Phibun Police Station, Nakhon Si Thammarat, received a notification about the incident. The location was an unnumbered shack in Moo 8, Ron Phibun subdistrict, Ron Phibun district.

Phongwut, accompanied by Phaithun Intarapiboon, deputy inspector and acting police chief of Ron Phibun Police Station, along with a team of investigators, medical personnel, and volunteers from the Siam Ruam Jai Poo In Foundation, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough examination.

At the scene, police discovered the body of 40 year old Wasana, residing at 18/18, Moo 3, Prik subdistrict, Thung Yai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. She was found deceased with a gunshot wound from a .22 calibre firearm, located between her neck and chest.

The gunman was identified as her husband, 40 year old Chatcai, residing at 62, Moo 10, Ron Phibun subdistrict, Ron Phibun district. Chatcai fled the scene on a motorcycle before the police arrived.

Investigations revealed that Wasana and Chatcai, a married couple, had been living in the shack while working as hired labourers in a nearby garden. Neighbours reported hearing a single gunshot from the shack.

Shortly after, Chatcai ran to seek help, informing them that he had accidentally shot Wasana. The neighbours alerted the police immediately, but by the time officials arrived, Wasana had already succumbed to her injuries, reported KhaoSod.

Before the police could reach the scene, Chatcai had disappeared. Efforts are underway to locate and question him further. Police have not yet determined the exact cause of the incident but are working diligently to gather evidence and testimonies to uncover the truth.
