A tragic incident unfolded in Samut Prakan province when a 43 year old man shot and killed his 34 year old wife in front of their children and mother-in-law. The suspect fled with his 15 year old stepdaughter, prompting a police manhunt.

Today, March 13, at 1am, officers from Phra Samut Chedi Police Station were alerted to a shooting at a townhouse in Bang Pla Kot subdistrict.

Upon arrival, they discovered Rattiya’s body with a gunshot wound to the head and another to the chest, lying on the ground floor.

The suspect, Chaiwat, allegedly threatened his stepdaughter before escaping on a motorcycle and later switching to a black Mitsubishi pickup truck, registration 9 กส 6627 Bangkok, with a firearm.

Investigations revealed that Chaiwat and Rattiya had been separated for about three years. Chaiwat had taken their 10 year old son and his stepdaughter to Sisaket province, while Rattiya remained at the residence.

The suspect returned with the children to discuss matters, which escalated into violence. After shooting Rattiya, Chaiwat forced her mother to hand over the motorcycle keys and fled with the stepdaughter.

Rattiya’s mother, 69 year old Apa, recounted that her daughter presented a marriage certificate to Chaiwat, who shot her without any response. She attempted to protect her granddaughter from being shot as well. Chaiwat then abducted the stepdaughter.

Rattikan, Rattiya’s 49 year old sister, stated the couple had been separated for three years. Rattiya had confided in her about the stepdaughter’s allegations of repeated sexual abuse by Chaiwat.

Rattiya advised her daughter to gather evidence, but communication ceased thereafter. Rattikan believes these accusations led Chaiwat to travel from Sisaket and commit the murder, reported KhaoSod.

Police are actively investigating the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing CCTV footage to apprehend the suspect. Meanwhile, Rattiya’s body has been sent for autopsy to assist in the ongoing investigation.
