Tamarind reinvents Southern Thai dishes with an international twist
Epic ocean views and a relaxed yet elegant ambience – there’s probably no dreamier place to enjoy Thai food than Tamarind at Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort. Helmed by Chef Nok, a native of Phuket with over a decade of culinary experience, you can expect a delightful fusion of Southern Thai tradition and global innovation at this restaurant.
With its blend of spicy aromatics, rich flavours, and creative flair, all wrapped up in a picture-perfect space just off Makham Bay, it’s hard not to fall in love with Tamarind.
Tamarind offers dishes that are both familiar and refreshingly new
Tamarind is adding a whole new layer to Phuket’s culinary offerings as a fusion Thai restaurant. Combining traditional Southern Thai flavours with innovative techniques and international influences, Chef Nok and her team craft dishes that are both familiar and refreshingly new. The ingredients are as fresh as can be, sourced from Phuket’s farmers and fishermen. All of this is then topped off with an artistic presentation, which turns each dish into a visual masterpiece.
Menu highlights
To get a real taste of the Tamarind experience, try the Tom Kha Gang or Hed (Thai Coconut Soup with Rock Lobster or Mushroom), which just happens to be the highlight of the menu. As the name suggests, you can choose either Rock Lobster or Mushroom. But rest assured, each one will be perfectly cooked and rich in flavour, thanks to the perfect balance of creamy coconut milk, fragrant herbs, and a touch of spice.
Looking for a taste of the Andaman Sea? You can’t go wrong with the Pla Muek Pad Nam Dum Kratiem Phuket (Stir-Fried Squid with Black Ink Sauce Phuket Style). Fresh baby squid is cooked to perfection in a black ink sauce, enhanced with a kick of Thai spices like red chilli and garlic. The result is a delightful fusion of textures and flavours in every bite.
The desserts at this Phukter restaurant are also worth saving space for. We especially love the Khao Niew Durian. Picture a creamy durian combined with sticky rice soaked in coconut milk – heavenly! If durian isn’t your thing, try the Mango Sticky Rice. Made with Nam Dok Mai mangoes, known for their incredible aroma, sweet taste, and unique jelly-like texture, you’ll be coming back for more.
A charming seaside atmosphere
Since Tamarind is located on Makham Bay, overlooking the Andaman Sea, you’ll probably want to reserve an al fresco seat to soak up the views all around. The gentle sea breeze and warm tropical sun add to the overall charm of this restaurant in Phuket. But if you prefer to dine indoors, Tamarind also boasts a beautifully decorated indoor dining area. You can enjoy your meal in comfort while still being able to admire the scenic surroundings through large windows overlooking the bay.
In typical Thai style, the service at Tamarind is friendly, fast, and efficient. If you’re not sure what to order, just ask the wait staff and they will be happy to guide you through the delicious options available.
With all that it has to offer, Tamarind at Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort is the perfect restaurant to try fusion Thai cuisine, a romantic dinner under the stars, or a leisurely brunch with foodie friends.
