Phuket faces a splash of chaos as waterworks fixes leak

Phuket Waterworks Authority (PWA) announced urgent repairs on a leaking water pipe at the notorious three-way intersection in front of Wat Patong, scheduled for tomorrow. The work, which will run from 1am to 6pm, tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, will force the closure of one westbound lane on Phra Baramee Road.

Traffic chaos is expected to spill over into the surrounding area, with potential gridlock on Phra Baramee Road, Phra Metta Road, Rat U-Thit 200 Pi Road, Thaweewong Road (Patong Beach Road), and in the Ban Kalim community.

The PWA has issued a warning about the upcoming disruption.

“As a result, traffic may be affected in the surrounding areas, including Phra Baramee Road, Phra Metta Road, Rat U-Thit 200 Pi Road, Thaweewong Road (Patong Beach Road), and the Ban Kalim community.”

Adding to the disruption, water supplies in some areas will be cut off during the same period. Locals are being urged to stock up on water beforehand to avoid a dry spell, added the PWA.

“Water supply will be interrupted in certain areas between 1am and 6pm. Residents in the affected areas are advised to store water in advance.”

The PWA apologised for the inconvenience but stressed that the repairs are necessary.
