Foreign man injured after falling on jet ski while parasailing in Phuket

A foreign man sustained a leg injury after falling onto a jet ski during a parasailing activity off Patong Beach in Phuket.
The Kusoltam Patong Rescue Foundation was called to assist the man, whose nationality and identity were not disclosed, at 2.19pm, yesterday, April 29, on Patong Beach. The man reportedly fell while parasailing, although the height from which he fell was not mentioned in the report.
According to the official Facebook page of the rescue team, the man’s right leg was struck by a jet ski, resulting in a visible deformity. In photographs released by the team, rescuers are seen immobilising the leg with a vacuum splint before transporting him to an ambulance on a stretcher.
The man was conscious and able to communicate with the rescue team during the journey to the hospital. However, no updates regarding his condition have been shared on social media.
The report did not specify the cause of the fall, nor did it mention any compensation or statement from the parasailing operator involved.

This incident follows a fatal parasailing accident in January this year in Phuket, where a Thai parasailing assistant fell into the sea off Karon Beach while assisting a foreign tourist.
In that case, the assistant and the tourist reportedly fell from a height equivalent to a 15-storey building. The boat operator managed to rescue the tourist.
It was believed that the assistant lost his balance while holding onto the parachute ropes by hand and using his legs to support the client.

Following the January accident, local police and relevant authorities launched a crackdown on water sports safety protocols for boat and parasailing operators in the area in an attempt to prevent further incidents. However, parasailing accidents continue to make headlines.

Another parasailing incident occurred on Karon Beach in February last year, when a Chinese tourist sustained a serious leg injury. The Thai operator attributed the accident to a sudden change in wind conditions and compensated the injured woman with 400,000 baht, denying negligence.
