Truck-stop terror: Motorcyclist smashes into lorry near Pattaya

A 21 year old Cambodian motorcyclist was left seriously injured after colliding with a parked 18-wheeler on Sukhumvit Road, Bang Lamung, near Pattaya.
Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre was alerted to the crash at 2.06am, yesterday, March 23, near the Krating Lai Bridge, heading towards Bangkok in Chon Buri province. Rescue volunteers and medical teams rushed to the scene.
A crowd gathered as the drama unfolded, with a black Honda Wave 110 wedged under the rear of an 18-wheeler. The trapped rider, identified as Reaksmey Chek, was found beneath the truck’s back end.
Unable to free himself, rescue workers fought to keep Reaksmey conscious, managing to extract him after a tense 10-minute operation. He suffered a deep leg laceration and complained of hip and chest pain.

After receiving first aid, he was immediately whisked away to a local hospital, Pattaya News reported.
Tara, the 51 year old lorry driver, recounted his shock.
“I’d parked the truck momentarily for a rest when I felt a sudden jolt at the rear. Upon investigating, I discovered the motorcycle entangled with my vehicle and promptly alerted rescue services.”
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking on the roads, even in the quietest hours.

Last week, a tragic accident on Highway 36 in East Pattaya left a 63 year old motorcyclist dead after he crashed into the back of a 10-wheel trailer. Despite the heroic efforts of three off-duty nurses who happened to be passing by, the man could not be revived.
Emergency responders were alerted to the crash in the Pong area of Bang Lamung on Sunday, March 16 and rushed to the scene.
Meanwhile, a viral video last week surfaced showing a foreign man brutally assault a Thai man in the middle of a road, following an alleged hit-and-run incident in Pattaya.
