Koh Larn mystery: Tourist’s body leaves police puzzled

Thai police have been left scratching their heads after discovering the dead body of a tourist in a forest on the picturesque island of Koh Larn. A photograph of an elderly woman was found at the chilling scene, yesterday, March 6.
Police Lieutenant Anan Mahakit Asawakun from Pattaya City Police Station’s Koh Larn branch today shared news of the unfolding mystery.
The grim find occurred yesterday, at 4.30pm, when police were alerted to a man’s body near a viewpoint behind Khao Phra Yai.
Nestled between Ta Waen Beach and Samae Beach in Moo 7, Na Kluea subdistrict, the secluded spot set the stage for a perplexing case.

The foreign man was discovered hanged at the scenic hillside location, with a collection of peculiar items scattered nearby.
The scene revealed a black long-sleeved hoodie, a camouflage hiking hat, a backpack, a cigarette packet, lighter, a photograph of an elderly woman, two strips of Viagra, and Bluetooth earphones, all within ten metres of the body.
More intriguingly, a passport identified the man as 48 year old Kazuhiro, a Japanese national, found resting on a stone bench in a nearby pavilion.

Pattaya City security staff reported that a tourist stumbled upon the tragic sight, quickly notifying security personnel who cordoned off the area for initial investigations.
Photographs documenting the scene have been recorded, while CCTV footage is under review to glean further insights into this haunting episode.
The body was transported to Phatthamakun Hospital. While awaiting contact from the man’s relatives, an autopsy will seek to uncover the true cause of his demise, adding yet another layer to the tragedy.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time police have stumbled across the dead body of a man on Koh Larn.
Two years ago, foreign couple alerted police after finding the dead body of a Thai man while they were travelling on the island in Chon Buri province on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
