Pattaya’s nightlife came under the spotlight as Tourist Police and Chon Buri Immigration officers launched surprise raids on entertainment venues on February 3.

The operation, conducted under the 5 Safe policy, aimed to crack down on drugs, weapons, human trafficking, and illegal foreign workers while ensuring overall safety.

Police targeted popular nightlife hotspots along Pattaya Third Road, where foreign tourists frequently gather.

Their first stop was World House Club, where only a handful of patrons were present. Officers checked IDs and conducted drug tests, but no illegal activity was found.

The scene at Space Club was far livelier. Police shut off the music, turned on the lights, and separated male and female patrons before carrying out document checks and random drug screenings.

Despite the intense scrutiny, no violations were detected.

In similar news, police in Pattaya launched a major raid on Club Panda, a nightclub on Walking Street, in the early hours of January 5 after it was found operating beyond legal hours with signs of drug abuse among patrons.

At 3.30am, around 100 police and administrative officials stormed the venue, where over 300 Thai and foreign customers were still drinking, despite the 2am closing time. Many of the foreign patrons were Chinese nationals.

The crackdown followed an incident on December 27, when a Chinese customer was severely beaten by the club’s security staff. The victim remains hospitalised.
