Drunk duo crash pickup into electric pole in Pattaya
A pickup truck crashed into an electric pole creating a deafening bang and resulting in significant damage to the vehicle and injuries to the passengers. The driver and a female passenger appeared to be intoxicated.
At 3.06am today, October 25, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Radio Centre received a report of a pickup truck losing control and crashing into a high-voltage electric pole on Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 32, also known as Soi Lukdod, in Naklua, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Rescue volunteers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, the rescue team found a black Toyota Revo pickup truck with Bangkok registration that had collided with the electric pole. The front of the vehicle was severely damaged.
Inside the truck were two injured people: the driver, 40 year old Rawiwich, and the passenger, 44 year old Kanyavee. Both appeared to be in pain and exhibited signs of intoxication, with minor injuries.
Rescue personnel provided initial first aid before transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. The injured parties mentioned they were returning from a concert, and concert wristbands were still visible on their wrists, reported KhaoSod.
A witness, who was sleeping in a parked car nearby, reported hearing a loud crash. Upon exiting their vehicle to investigate, they saw that Good Samaritans were already helping to move the injured individuals out of the truck due to the rising smoke and had disconnected the vehicle’s battery before contacting the rescue team.
There were no reports of what charges the driver of the vehicle will face.
In related news, a young woman, heavily intoxicated, lost control of her car, causing it to flip over and sustain significant damage. When confronted by police, she confidently stated, “It hurts in my heart,” while expressing confusion about how the accident occurred.
At 1.16am on October 23, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Radio Centre in Pattaya received a report of a car accident on the Laem Bali Hai overpass road in Pattaya, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.
