Tourists at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya were met with an unfortunate sight as oil stains marred the sandy shores, clinging to their bodies and clothes. Numerous complaints from tourists regarding stubborn oil stains that couldn’t be washed off at Yinyom Beach prompted a cleanup effort by officials.

The investigation revealed oil stains scattered across the beach and floating in the seawater. The contamination extended from Yinyom Beach to Dongtan Beach, spanning several kilometres from Jomtien Beach to Soi 7 and 8.

Reports also indicated oil stains in the ocean near Jomtien, which are still under investigation by officials. However, inspections conducted yesterday, August 24, did not uncover specific issues or problems.

Sergeant Major Wikan Ketkaew, a lecturer at the Royal Volunteer School 904 in Bang Khen District, shared his experience at Dongtan Beach. He arrived early in the morning to enjoy the scenery and started a live broadcast.

He soon discovered oil stains on the beach after stepping on them. Realising the potential hazard, he warned tourists planning to swim and contacted the Pattaya Tourist Police to alert the relevant authorities.

He condemned those responsible and highlighted the negative impact on Pattaya’s reputation as a tourist destination just as tourists flocked to the beach for a sunny day out this past weekend.

“The person who did this has no conscience and is not responsible for their actions.”

In response, Pattaya City deployed over 20 officers and staff to clean the affected areas and remove the oil stains from the beach.

Relevant authorities assured tourists and residents that the issue was a top priority and would be resolved immediately. Efforts are underway to identify the source of the contamination and prevent future incidents, reported Pattaya News.

In other news, a Frenchman in Pattaya reported being robbed by a transgender individual who slashed his bag and stole his mobile phone before fleeing.

Pascat Gaston Pair Francais, a 71 year old French national, filed a complaint with Pattaya police yesterday at 2am. He recounted that while riding a songthaew from Soi Buakhao to Soi 6, someone had secretly slashed his bag and stolen his belongings.
