German homeless after kicked out by Thai wife in Pattaya
Expat sparks discussions on Thai-foreign relationships after getting the boot from his home

A German man was found stranded and distressed in Pattaya’s Jomtien Beach area after being kicked out of his home by his Thai wife, local officials confirmed.
The incident came to light during a routine patrol by the Jomtien enforcement unit under Pattaya City Hall, operating on a directive from Mayor Poramet Ngampichet to ensure visitor safety.
Officers responded to a report from a concerned local and discovered the man in a dejected state. He told Pattaya authorities that his Thai partner had evicted him without warning, leaving him without shelter.
Pattaya municipal officers, local police, immigration officials, and Tourist Police provided initial support and are now working to assess his needs and welfare going forward.
The case has reignited online debate about relationships between older foreign men and younger Thai women, a recurring topic in expat-heavy areas like Pattaya. While some sympathised with the man, others criticised the apparent pattern of poor judgment among some expats.
“I’ve lived here for 30 years. I’ve seen too many older foreign men fall for young women who end up scamming them,” one local said to Pattaya Mail.
Some have also pointed out that not all blame rests with the women, with some foreign men accused of exploiting local partners or misrepresenting their finances.

In other Pattaya news, an Iranian couple has been arrested and charged with “jointly committing theft at night or receiving stolen goods” for allegedly scamming tourists. The arrests followed a report on April 24 from a tourist who claimed a couple sweet-talked him into displaying US dollars, after which US$700 went missing.
A joint operation by Tourist Police and Immigration Police led to a raid on the couple’s room, where they were found along with clothing matching descriptions from the scam and seven US$100 bills with serial numbers matching the stolen money.
