Upon reaching the scene, firefighters observed the fire spreading swiftly. Several fire trucks were dispatched to spray water, effectively preventing the blaze from reaching and damaging nearby residences.

The fire was eventually controlled, although smoke continued to linger in the area. As a safety measure, residents were temporarily evacuated.

The origin of the wildfire remains under investigation. Officials plan to determine if the fire has contributed to increased PM 2.5 pollution levels in Pattaya, following complaints from locals, reported The Pattaya News.

In similar news, firefighters in Loei province have successfully contained a devastating forest fire that tore through 400 rai of land over a gruelling 30-hour operation.

The blaze, which spread across the Phu Huai Ngiu, Phu Hin Hong, and Phu Yata forests in Mueang district, caused widespread concern among residents due to thick smoke and deteriorating air quality.

Leading the firefighting efforts, Chaiyaphuek Subdistrict Administrative Organisation Mayor Thinnakorn Kasetkasorn, along with local leaders and a 30-member volunteer fire crew, battled the flames across steep, rugged terrain under scorching sunlight. The fire, stretching over several kilometres, presented significant challenges.

Using manual tools such as fire beaters and blowers, the team created firebreaks to halt the fire’s spread. By late afternoon, they had successfully extinguished the flames, marking the end of an intense day-long operation.

In response to rising fire risks, Loei Governor Chaiphot Jarupong had earlier instructed all 14 districts to strictly enforce a ban on burning to combat wildfires and reduce PM2.5 pollution. The crackdown led to the arrest of 33 individuals for illegal burning, with offenders fined between 500 and 1,000 baht.
