Car crash in Pattaya tunnel causes severe damage, minor injuries
A car lost control and crashed into a barrier in a Pattaya tunnel, causing severe damage. The driver claims another vehicle forced him off the road. Fortunately, he sustained only minor injuries.
At 10.06pm yesterday, October 28, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received a report of a car accident. The incident occurred on the road through the central Pattaya tunnel in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Officers from the Pattaya City Police Station and rescue volunteers rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found a white Toyota Vios with registration number งย 3861 Chon Buri, which had crashed into the barrier on the inbound side towards Sattahip. The car was severely damaged and obstructed the road. The driver, Sun Hao, a 41 year old Chinese national, sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene from rescue personnel.
Rescue workers who were first to arrive reported that the injured driver claimed an unidentified car had sideswiped his vehicle, causing him to lose control and crash into the barrier. As a result, his car sustained significant damage, and he suffered minor injuries.
Initial police investigations include reviewing CCTV footage from the accident site and conducting a detailed interview with the driver. Police aim to follow legal procedures to determine the cause of the accident and hold any responsible parties accountable.
The driver reported that another car, make and model unknown, had sideswiped his vehicle. This caused him to lose control and crash into the barrier, resulting in the extensive damage and minor injuries he sustained, reported KhaoSod.
Police and rescue teams continue to gather evidence to support the investigation. They will use CCTV footage to confirm the driver’s account and identify any other vehicles involved.
