We all know that the learning environment of our children is a key aspect of their everyday lives, especially while growing up. At DLTS, the learning environment of your children is prioritised above everything else as it is absolutely crucial in shaping their educational journey.

DLTS’ campus in Bangkok is made to be the second home for their students. Through their teaching facilities and philosophy, they seek to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and promote academic excellence.

Let’s take a walk through what a typical day at DTLS is like, and they contribute to shaping not just an unrivalled learning environment, but also the development of self from a very young age. Choose Excellence, Choose DLTS.

What is the average day like at DLTS?

The classrooms at DLTS

The morning bell rings and students start to make their way into their classrooms. But they are not just entering some ordinary classroom, they are entering a space that is carefully and thoughtfully designed to place their learning experiences on a pedestal. Students are well-equipped with a wealth of learning resources through an American curriculum focused on the U.S. national standards in mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies.

But besides this, DLTS always seeks alternative methods to make learning a worthwhile experience for their students. Early years students follow a play-based learning approach, while primary students adopt a more project-based procedure.

To accompany students in their day-to-day learning adventures, teachers at DLTS are highly qualified with gold education degrees and years of teaching experience in international schools. Right by the teacher’s side are the co-teachers, who are there to support early years students at every step of the way, watching closely and always ready to help out.

During play-based activities throughout the day, co-teachers are integral to the learning experience of students at DLTS. Why? They make things fun, yet still very educational. Students will undoubtedly become close friends with co-teachers at DLTS.

With just 24 students per class, personalised attention is given to every student during every class period in a school day. Each student has their own unique learning needs, and only through individualised focus will your children’s characteristics, and exceptional capabilities will be catered to, nurtured and continue to grow.

Recess, lunch, and playtime

As the clock strikes midday, it’s time for lunch and play. After all, students need food to stay fueled for a day of learning, and there’s no better place to eat than the cafeteria, where all the meals are cooked with love and affection by DLTS’ kitchen staff alongside Food House, a subsidiary of S&P.

Their buffet-style offerings with weekly meal plans are prepared to ensure that students have access to varied, balanced, nutritious, and tasty meals. Meals are personally tailored to each student’s age group, meaning that preschoolers and primary schoolers will have slightly different menus so that all students are well-fed for a day of learning, fun, and activities at DLTS.

For younger learners, the Kids Universe is where the dots between learning and playing are intersected. This special area is where kids can learn through playing outside a classroom environment, or what DLTS refers to as Imaginative Play.

With plenty of space to climb and play in an environment which engages cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development, the Kids Universe space is an essential aspect of childhood education and an integral part of their day.

For primary students, from grades 3 to 6, the indoor soccer field and basketball courts offer the perfect opportunity to engage and develop an interest in extracurricular sports activities during break periods of the day.

DLTS delivers a well-balanced environment where students can engage in physical activity while being in a social setting where they can learn the value of teamwork, and sportsmanship while having heaps of fun.

Coming back inside

Core to DLTS is the focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) based subjects, where our students conduct experiments and bring exciting textbook concepts to life.

DLTS believes in a hands-on approach when it comes to learning scientific concepts. Textbooks are there to introduce ideas, but only through electrifying experiments will a deeper understanding and appreciation of the sciences be reached.

The love for scientific inquiry is key in STEM, and DLTS’ AI and Innovation area is where the roots of this relationship are planted. Students are able to delve into the world of science and robotics using Lego robotic kits in tandem with coding classes where young Einsteins can design and build their very own creations, they are simultaneously developing crucial critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The computer room provides students with a gateway into the digital world. The need for integration of technology into the classroom learning environment is increasingly becoming more important with each passing day. DLTS gives its students a headstart when it comes to technology by teaching to not only to be consumers of technology but to also be creators.

All of these skills are integral to DLTS’ objective: to nurture their students into future leaders and innovators, paving the way for their successes.

Moving on to arts and crafts

Students are also encouraged to find inspiration in the arts during the school day and there is no better place to discover the artistic spirits than in the Art Studio and Blackbox theatre. The artistic endeavours of your children should be recognised and catered to, and DLTS’ studios are there to foster that sense of creativity and shape your children into confident performers.

One of DLTS’ most unique facilities is the Cooking Room. Here, students swap uniforms for aprons and chef hats to explore the world’s culture through cuisine. It’s another addition to DLTS’s hands-on approach and learning through play for younger students. Cooking, undoubtedly an important life skill, can also teach important practises in measurements and nutrition.

Ending off the day, DLTS offers after-school courses for students to dive even deeper into interests. In an after-school setting, students are able to engage in activities such as swimming, music, dancing, brain fitness and STEM in a more laid-back environment.

DLTS’ approach to education ensures that students have a fair mix of the sciences, languages, and physical education while having plenty of time to learn important, yet often neglected life skills, all in a school day. The centrepiece of education at the hands of DLTS is the balance between learning and fun.

A day at DLTS

Throughout the day, all the different spaces tie together to create a balanced yet thorough approach to learning. Each space is designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and facilitate academic growth through the lens of many different subjects or areas of interest. DLTS is here to light the initial spark, then let their student’s imaginations run wild to explore their options.

A science project might start in the classroom, and move to the AI and Innovation room for further development with Lego robotics kits, before utilising the Computer room for digital presentation.

Alternatively, a history project may also start in the classroom, move to the library for research, and develop in the music room before culminating in the black theatre for a grand theatrical performance.

At DLTS, every space is a learning space. The multitude of facilities is a backdrop for education, but learning goes far beyond academia and the classroom. DLTS prides itself on providing our students the opportunity to dive deeper into their interests, develop new skills, become well-rounded in all aspects of life, and form life-long relationships.
