Thai police apprehended a transgender woman who deftly snatched a gold necklace worth nearly 100,000 baht from an Australian man on Sukhumvit Road before fleeing to a dormitory in Suan Luang district, Bangkok. The arrest occurred yesterday, August 7.

The Australian national, Brock Christian Jarvis, reported to the police on July 21 that he had been robbed by a transgender woman in a black dress, with long hair, and wearing flip-flops. The assailant, who carried a handbag, approached Jarvis under the pretence of a conversation, then used her left arm to embrace him from behind while her right hand swiftly unclasped a gold necklace valued at approximately 4,000 Australian dollars (around 97,000 baht) from his neck. The incident occurred on the footpath near the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 11, heading towards Asoke intersection.

Following the report, the investigative team from Division 4 of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) began their inquiry. They identified the suspect as Tosaporn, also known as Nadia, who was staying in a dormitory on On Nut Road, Suan Luang district, Bangkok. When officers spotted Tosaporn leaving the dormitory, they approached and identified themselves as police, presenting the arrest warrant.

Upon being questioned, Tosaporn confessed to the charges and led the officers to her room to retrieve the stolen gold necklace. The necklace was then returned to the victim. Tosaporn was subsequently transferred to Lumpini Police Station to face charges of theft.

The arrest operation was overseen by Police Major General Supakorn Chantabut, Deputy Commissioner of the CSD, along with Police Colonel Satthawat Bunmee, Commander of Division 4, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Paiboon Pimkamnoet, Deputy Superintendent of Division 4. The officers meticulously planned the capture, ensuring that Tosaporn had no opportunity to escape, reported KhaoSod.

Jarvis expressed his gratitude towards the Bangkok police for their swift action in apprehending the suspect and recovering his valuable necklace.

“I am relieved and thankful for the police’s quick response and their efforts to recover my necklace. Their professionalism and diligence have restored my faith in the safety measures here.”
