Thai woman killed and her close friend injured in apartment fall
Two Thai women mysteriously fell from an apartment in the central province of Samut Sakhon yesterday, 28 January, resulting in one death and one serious injury.
Officers from Krathum Baen Police Station were alerted to the incident at an apartment in Soi Khlong Maduea 1/1, in the Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon, at around 5pm yesterday. They rushed to the scene alongside an emergency team from Krathum Baen Hospital and rescuers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation.
The two women, identified as A and B, were found lying face down on the ground at the rear of the apartment building, with blood coming from their noses, ears, and head wounds.
Medical personnel assessed their conditions before transporting them and confirmed that B had already succumbed to her injuries. A was transported to Krathum Baen Hospital while B was taken to Vichaivej Hospital International Omnoi.
A local, who lives 10 to 20 metres away from the apartment, told Matichon that she did not witness the fall but had heard people arguing, followed by a scream and the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground. Upon investigating, the resident discovered the two women lying on the ground.
The witness added that the two women were close friends. B resided on the third floor of the apartment with her mother, while A often visited her. Neighbours reported that they had never seen the two arguing previously.
Another resident of the apartment mentioned that A had only moved in two months ago. At the time of the incident, this resident was in the bathroom and also heard the screams.
Police reviewed security camera footage from the apartment and surrounding areas, but no cameras captured the fall. Officers plan to interview the families of the two women to determine the cause of the fall and whether an argument preceded it, once the families have recovered from their grief.
B’s body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy, while A remains under medical care at the hospital.
In a similarly mysterious incident, a Thai man fell to his death from an apartment in the Isaan province of Roi Et on January 26, shocking his girlfriend. She stated that her boyfriend had never expressed any serious concerns or issues and was always cheerful when they were together.
