The Phra Nakhon North District Court sentenced Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, also known as Tae, the leader of the Thai Srivijaya Party, to a month in prison and a fine of 20,000 baht for intimidation.

The intimidation charges relate to threats made against Decha Kittiwittayanan, with sentencing to be deferred for a year and a probationary period of one year, during which Mongkolkit must report every three months.

The hearing took place today at the Phra Nakhon North District Court, located in the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road. The public prosecutor, with Decha Kittiwittayanan as a co-plaintiff, brought a lawsuit against Mongkolkit accusing him of intimidation.

The case arose from Mongkolkit’s threat to Decha. This threat was linked to the death case of Pattharathida, also known as Tae, which occurred on April 19 of this year.

“Don’t make me have to deal with you. If it were someone else, I would have sent people to beat you up. This is my final warning. If you don’t stop, I will take legal action in the southern border provinces and you won’t be able to return.”

Mongkolkit confessed before the court, which found him guilty under the Thai Penal Code, Sections 309 (first paragraph) and 392, in conjunction with Section 80, for a single offence of multiple legal violations. He was sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of 40,000 baht for intimidation. However, due to his confession, which was beneficial to the court’s consideration, his sentence was reduced to one month in prison and a fine of 20,000 baht, reported KhaoSod.

After investigation and deliberation, the court found that Mongkolkit had never previously received a prison sentence. Therefore, it was deemed appropriate to give him a chance to reform.

His actual sentence is deferred for a year, with a probationary period of one year during which he must report every three months.
