Thai soldier shot dead in car after honking horn at murderer
A murderer shot dead a Thai soldier on a road in the central province of Prachin Buri last night after the deceased honked his horn at the killer because he drove his pickup across the victim’s car, cutting them up.
The 25 year old girlfriend of the victim, Monticha, sought help for her severely injured soldier boyfriend, 22 year old Ekkarat Sue-am, from Rabor Phai Police Station at 9am yesterday, November 26. Ekkarat was reported to be trapped in his damaged car on Road 359 in Si Maha Pho district, Prachi Buri province.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a grey pickup that fell off the road into a roadside forest. The left side of the vehicle was completely destroyed and Ekkarat was left wounded in the driver’s seat. Officers removed his body from the damaged vehicle and found a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
Officers took Ekkarat to hospital but the doctor could not save his life. The bullet had passed through his body and into his lungs.
Monticha told police that she and her boyfriend Ekkarat were travelling from the central province of Saraburi to the Isaan province of Sa Kaeo. They were on road 359 when a gold-coloured pickup cut them off. Ekkarat responded like many other drivers and honked his horn to warn the driver about his erratic behaviour.
Monticha said Ekkarat then sped up and managed to overtake the gold pickup, infuriating the driver. The driver approached her car and fired a shot into it. The bullet hit Ekkarat, causing him to lose control of the car and crash into the roadside forest.
Monticha said she could not remember the registration number of the gold pickup because the road was dark and the pickup was driving at a very high speed.
Monticha added that she and her boyfriend travelled to Sa Kaoe to invite relatives to their wedding ceremony on January 21 of next year, 2024.
The superintendent of Rabor Phai Police Station, Ponganan Rakchart, said officers were now checking security cameras along the road to track down the killer.
Ekkarat’s body has been taken to Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital for an autopsy and removal of the bullet. Officers would also try to trace the killer through the bullet and the gun used in the crime.
