Thai mother physically assaults daughter in Khon Kaen restaurant
Confessions of drug use and past neglect raise alarm

Government officials rescued a three year old girl after a horrifying viral video showed her mother physically assaulting the child and pouring water over her head at a barbecue restaurant in the Isaan province of Khon Kaen province.
CCTV footage from the restaurant captured the moment of physical and verbal abuse, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, May 6. The restaurant owner decided to share the footage on her social media account to seek help for the young girl.
The video showed the Thai woman, later identified as 32 year old Mui, throwing rocks at her daughter, who was sitting on a chair. She continued to throw chopsticks at the child and physically assaulted her before pouring water from a plastic bottle over her head.
Mui was heard shouting at her daughter, “Going home, b*tch!” before walking away, leaving the crying girl alone on the chair.
Restaurant staff then approached and wiped the water from her head and body with tissues before walking her to her mother, who was waiting on a motorcycle.

The restaurant owner told Channel 7 that the woman became enraged after the employees warned her not to throw rocks inside the restaurant, as it could pose a danger to both herself and other customers.
Officials from the Khon Kaen Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office visited Mui’s home on Wednesday, May 7, in response to the incident. They conducted a drug test, which returned a negative result. However, Mui admitted that she had used methamphetamine (also known as Yaba) two weeks earlier.

She also confessed to physically abusing her daughter. As a result, officials took the young girl into temporary care at a shelter. A community leader will now regularly visit Mui’s home to monitor her mental health and progress in drug rehabilitation.
Officials plan to return the girl to her mother on May 16, when the new school term begins. If no further issues are reported, Mui will be permitted to resume care of her daughter.

Chalida “Ton Or” Palamart, the founder of the non-profit organisation Be One, revealed that this was not the first incident involving Mui. She had previously neglected her daughter, letting the girl play alone in the middle of a road. Fortunately, residents managed to remove the girl before any accident occurred.
