Thai King and Queen gear up for 35th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta

The Thai King and Queen participated in today’s international sailing competition training in Phuket, joining the THA72 team in the IRC Zero category.

The event took place today, December 7, at 7.42am at Kata Beach. His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and his wife Queen Suthida were preparing for the 35th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, a prestigious international sailing race.

Upon their arrival at Phuket International Airport, Surathep Nuankaew, Commander of the 44th Military Circle, and other high-ranking officials, including Sopon Suwanrat, Phuket Provincial Governor, and Montchai Taho, Director of Phuket International Airport, were present to welcome them.

The Thai King and Queen then proceeded to Beyond Kata Hotel where they were received by Amnuay Pintuwan, Deputy Governor of Phuket, and other officials. Kevin Whitcraft, the Chairman of the Regatta Organising Committee, and Pramukphisit-Thanayaram Achariyachai, the Managing Director of Kata Group Resorts, along with hotel staff and executives, were also present to welcome them.

At 9am, the Queen participated in the sailing training with the IRC Zero team (THA72) at Kata Beach, which lasted approximately one to two hours. After the training, they returned to the Amphon Satthan Royal Palace in Dusit, reported KhaoSod.

The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is a significant event in the international sailing calendar, attracting a variety of participants from around the world. The active participation of the King and Queen in this year’s event underscores the importance of sailing in Thailand and the country’s commitment to promoting this sport at an international level.
