A weird real estate sign reading “Find haunted houses to buy” left locals in the eastern province of Rayong shocked and bewildered. Two real estate investors have since claimed responsibility for the sign, explaining that their goal is to renovate old, haunted houses for resale.

A 48 year old Thai man named Kai shared a picture of the real estate advertisement on social media, capturing the attention of journalists and netizens. In an interview with Channel 7, Kai explained that he noticed the sign while riding his motorcycle past it.

Kai remarked that the message on the sign was unusual as he had never encountered anyone seeking to buy haunted houses before. Adding to the eerie atmosphere, the sign was installed near a temple in the community, enhancing its spooky vibe.

Curious whether the sign was a prank or a genuine business advertisement, Kai posted the picture online, hoping netizens might clarify the matter.

Channel 7 reporters contacted the owner of the sign using the phone numbers provided and spoke with the real estate investor, 33 year old Suthima “Ploy” Rungsirat.

Ploy explained that she and her mother are real estate investors specialising in purchasing old houses, renovating them, and putting them back on the market. To attract more sellers, they decided to install the sign in the community.

Ploy admitted she wanted to make the sign more eye-catching by using the haunted house concept. However, her mother initially disapproved of the idea, believing that associating their business with ghosts was inauspicious and unlucky.

Despite her mother’s disapproval, Ploy proceeded with her idea, further enhancing its spookiness by placing the sign near a temple, just 50 metres from a crematorium.

Ploy revealed that she already received a call from a homeowner interested in selling a haunted house. The homeowner even asked whether she would be interested in buying the property if ghosts surrounded the house rather than inhabiting it.

Ploy assured that she is willing to purchase all types of old houses, haunted or not. She added that many of her clients do not care about a property’s history or spooky associations and are happy to buy after renovations are completed.

To ease the concerns of potential buyers worried about supernatural elements, Ploy and her mother offer complimentary merit-making ceremonies for the properties.

Anyone with an old or haunted house can contact Ploy and her mother via the phone numbers 065-878-8025 or 061-772-1842.
