Tragedy struck yesterday when a 15 year old boy riding a motorcycle collided with another, sending both riders onto the path of an oncoming truck on Petchkasem Road, southbound lane, near Ban Nawalapriang in Sam Krathai district, Kui Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The impact was so severe that both teenagers died at the scene around 1am.

Police Lieutenant Nonnaphan Singhanat, the investigating officer from Sam Krathai Police Station, along with highway police from Kui Buri and rescue workers from the Luang Por In Kuti Foundation at Wat Kui Buri, rushed to the scene. They discovered a Honda Wave motorcycle, registration KL38 Prachuap Khiri Khan, abandoned by the roadside, its front end crumpled beyond recognition. Nearby lay the 28 year old driver, Tedthasak (surname withheld), motionless.

The young motorcyclist, referred to as A for privacy, was found approximately 15 metres away, face down on the road. His condition was dire, with pieces of his skull and brain strewn about, making identification difficult after being run over by a large truck.

The Prachuap Khiri Khan hospital vehicle was at the scene and the medical team attempted to resuscitate Tedthasak. Despite over 15 minutes of CPR, their efforts were in vain.

Further down the road, about 200 metres away, authorities located the truck involved, an Isuzu with the registration 71-0789 Phetchaburi, parked on the shoulder. The red Honda Wave motorcycle, belonging to A, was wedged beneath it, showing signs of being dragged over 200 metres, leaving it in a state of destruction. The truck driver, 62 year old Somprasong (surname withheld) awaits questioning by the authorities.

Somprasong recounted that as he was driving, he witnessed A’s motorcycle abruptly exit an alley and ascend the road shoulder, cutting off Tedthasak’s motorcycle. The sudden manoeuvre resulted in a violent collision that sent A flying into the front of Somprasong’s truck. The truck’s impact instantly killed A and dragged the motorcycle underneath, reported KhaoSod.

Police officials will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fatal accident and proceed with legal actions as necessary.
