Suphan Buri teen killed in hit-and-run, driver flees

Tragedy struck a quiet village in Suphan Buri after a 13 year old boy was killed in a brutal hit-and-run — and now his grieving family can’t afford to bury him.
The heartbreaking incident occurred in the Rai Rot subdistrict, Don Chedi district, where a boy identified only as “Aye” lost his life after being hit by a ten-wheeler truck that fled the scene. The driver didn’t stop, leaving the lifeless teen and the community in shock.
The accident occurred yesterday, April 9, at around 3.30pm. Aye was riding his motorcycle and had just reached the notoriously sharp Nong Chaeng Curve when a speeding truck slammed into him. The impact was so severe that Aye was killed instantly.
Witnesses reported that the truck driver made no attempt to slow down or assist and instead sped off, disappearing from the scene. Social media users have since joined forces, sharing posts to help identify the vehicle involved in the fatal collision.
Nearby CCTV footage captured the truck involved, a Nissan UD model, commonly used to transport sugarcane in the region. Police are reviewing the footage and urging the public to provide any additional information that could help track down the driver.
Adding to the tragedy, Aye’s family is now facing a financial crisis. With no money to cover funeral expenses, they are relying on the kindness of neighbours. A local, Tik, stepped in to help.
“The family sells charcoal to make ends meet. They have no savings, no support,” said Tik, who volunteered to host the first night of the funeral at their home. “Aye’s parents work in another province and haven’t even been contacted yet.”
The story has gone viral online, sparking an outpouring of grief, anger, and offers of support. Many netizens have condemned the driver’s actions and called for justice, urging police to act swiftly, reported KhaoSod.
Police are continuing their investigation and have vowed to bring the driver to justice.
