Student brawl in Pathum Wan mall leaves five injured (video)

A violent altercation broke out between students from two renowned institutes at MBK Shopping Centre in Pathum Wan, Bangkok, resulting in five injuries. Police intervened and detained both parties involved after the incident, which took place at 7.16pm yesterday, March 22.

Police Major Montri Khamkhao, an inspector at Pathum Wan Police Station, responded to a report of a brawl involving students armed with knives at a famous shopping mall on Phayathai Road, Wang Mai subdistrict. Accompanied by Police Lieutenant Colonel Songpol Wathong, the inspector and a team of patrol and investigation officers rushed to the scene.

Arriving at the sixth floor of the mall, officers found students from Pathumwan Institute of Technology engaged in a chaotic fight with students from Rajamangala University of Technology. Police, along with mall security personnel, quickly intervened, causing the students to flee. Five students from Uthenthawai were injured in the fracas.

Among the injured were Prakat Korn, who sustained severe injuries from a stab wound to the chest, and Panu Pong, who was stabbed in the back. Three others sustained minor injuries. The injured were transported to Police General Hospital for treatment.

Police Colonel Sirichat Chanpromma, superintendent of Pathum Wan Police Station, stated that officers from the prevention and suppression division successfully apprehended the perpetrators from both sides. An investigation is ongoing to determine further legal action, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a violent altercation occurred between rival student groups from the same university in Nonthaburi, resulting in injuries to a female student and severe damage to parked vehicles.

The incident took place on March 19, at 8pm outside a convenience store on Nonthaburi 14 Road, Bang Kraso subdistrict, Mueang district.

Officers from Rattanathibet Police Station were alerted to the brawl involving groups of vocational students. Upon arrival, no participants were found at the scene, only scattered motorcycle parts and helmets. Injured students were taken to the hospital by their peers, while the aggressors fled.
