Man tragically killed by train in Ayutthaya accident

A tragic accident occurred in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya when a 59 year old man was fatally struck by a train while crossing a railway track after work. The incident, which took place at Phachi Railway Station, left the man with multiple fractures and lacerations across his body.

Today, March 20, Police Lieutenant Pallop Intharachet of Phachi District Police Station in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was alerted to the incident. The accident happened about 1 kilometre from Phachi Railway Station, where train number 317, travelling from Bangkok to Lop Buri, had stopped.

The deceased was identified as Saen Alaisuk from Buriram province, who was found with severe injuries under the train. The police documented evidence of the collision and removed the body to allow the train to continue its journey to Lop Buri.

Siwaphak Sangsamran, a member of the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Association rescue unit, reported that they were informed by radio from Phachi Railway Station staff of the accident.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the man had died, and personal belongings, including car keys and an ID card, were found on him. He was identified as an employee of a high-speed rail construction company working nearby.

Later, Narong, a 54 year old colleague, arrived at the scene and stated that the deceased worked as a trailer driver for the high-speed rail construction project. After parking his car, he had been crossing the tracks to return home to Saraburi province.

Initial police investigations suggest that the man, after finishing his work, was attempting to cross the four-track railway in darkness, which made it difficult to see the approaching train, leading to the fatal collision.

The body of Saen has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice in Pathum Thani for a detailed autopsy.

The Ayutthaya Ruamjai Association rescue unit coordinated with the deceased’s family for the body to be collected and traditional funeral proceedings to be arranged, reported KhaoSod.
