Buriram man accuses high school teacher of sexually assaulting and manipulating him

A male teacher in Buriram province was accused of physically abusing and sexually grooming a schoolboy for more than four years.

The victim’s sister, 35 year old Pitchaman, accompanied her brother, identified only as M, to Buriram Provincial Police Office to follow up on the complaint filed with Mueang Buriram Police Station six months ago.

The siblings later shared details of the case with Channel 8 in the hope of prompting progress in the investigation.

M said he enrolled in an extra English class taught by a 48 year old male teacher. During the class, the teacher allegedly gave him special attention, treated him as more than a student and allegedly asked him to kiss and hug him.

According to M, the teacher later persuaded him to perform oral sex and then continued forcing him into sexual acts. He said the teacher beat him when he refused.

M also shared that the teacher offered financial support, paying his daily expenses and accommodation rent until he finished high school and entered university.

He added that the teacher controlled his life and forced him to follow his orders. According to M, the teacher told him to move out of his dormitory and changed his accommodation several times out of jealousy.

M showed the media a screenshot of a conversation with the teacher, showing that the teacher controlled almost everything in his life. In the exchange, the teacher ordered M to change his social media profile picture to one he preferred.

M said the abuse continued until he developed depression. He committed self-harm by cutting his arms and attempted suicide several times before seeking treatment and eventually telling his family.

Pitchaman said the family reported the case to police in October last year, but there had been no progress from either police or the school. She said she planned to submit evidence to the Secondary Educational Service Office in an effort to have the teacher removed from duty.

As of now, neither the school nor Mueang Buriram Police Station has publicly clarified the matter.

Another school sexual abuse case was reported in Phetchabun yesterday, April 2. In that case, students contacted a local news agency to accuse a male teacher of filming under the skirts of schoolgirls and a female colleague.

According to the students, they had already reported the matter to the school director, but the school had not taken action.
