Heavy rain is expected to continue across Thailand, with 53 provinces particularly affected, including the upper northern, upper northeastern, and western southern regions. Residents in these areas should be cautious of flash floods and sudden water surges.

Today, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a 24-hour weather forecast indicating increased rainfall and heavy downpours in certain areas. The upper northern regions, upper northeastern regions, and the western part of the southern region are expected to experience the most intense rain.

The public in these regions is advised to be vigilant against the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and accumulated precipitation, which could lead to flash floods and rapid water surges, particularly in foothills, near waterways, and low-lying areas.

The current weather conditions are due to the monsoon trough moving across the upper northern and northeastern regions, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

A low-pressure system in upper Laos is contributing to increased wind and wave activity in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The upper Andaman Sea is experiencing waves of 2 to 3 metres, with higher waves exceeding 3 metres in stormy areas.

The upper Gulf of Thailand has waves of approximately 2 metres, while the lower Andaman Sea has waves of 1 to 2 metres, with higher waves in stormy areas. Mariners in these regions are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in stormy areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore during this period.
