Hat Yai water meter thief falls through roof during police chase
A man responsible for stealing water meters in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, found himself in a sticky situation when he attempted to flee from the police. The incident unfolded yesterday, November 21 in the bustling area of Hat Yai, where residents had been repeatedly victimised by the theft of water meters from their homes.

They diligently tracked down the suspect, 27 year old Apirak, believed to be the mastermind behind these thefts. Upon arrival at a house located on Soi 7, Rattana Uthit, in Hat Yai Municipality, the officers encountered Apirak. The suspect, realising the presence of law enforcement, made a desperate attempt to escape by climbing onto the roof.
Unfortunately, the roof tiles gave way, causing him to fall and injure himself. Undeterred, he sought refuge in a nearby forest, but the police soon apprehended him.
Apirak confessed to the thefts, admitting to stealing water meters from only four locations. He revealed that he sold the stolen meters to fund his lifestyle, which included drugs and leisure activities.
“I only stole four meters. I sold them for money to enjoy myself and buy drugs.”
Further investigation by reporters uncovered more about the aftermath of Apirak’s arrest. As officers searched the premises, they stumbled upon a scene that could only be described as unexpected. Two women were found openly consuming drugs inside the house, one of whom was Apirak’s girlfriend, reported KhaoSod.
This discovery led the police to detain all three individuals. They were charged with nighttime theft and drug consumption. The legal process is now underway to ensure that justice is served.
