Golden showers: Drug dealer arrested after he urinates on cop
One officer yesterday was urinated on as the Drug Suppression Unit of Suphan Buri Province in central Thailand swooped to arrest a drug dealer, seizing 1,000 methamphetamine tablets, also known as Yaba, during the operation.
Officers received a complaint from locals that drug dealers frequently used Highway Number 33 to transport drugs. An investigation revealed the dealers planned to deliver the drugs in the early hours of August 1. Officers staked out the scene in preparation to arrest them.
At approximately 2.20am, a white BMW sedan with the registration plate กม 6767 arrived and parked in the left lane. Two Thai men exited the car and talked before one urinated by the roadside.
The urination spot was where an officer, Tat Sridutsadee, was hiding. Despite being covered in urine, Tat revealed himself and immediately apprehended the drug dealer. Other officers rushed to apprehend the second dealer near the BMW.
Officers searched the men but found nothing illegal. They then searched the BMW, finding a .38 gun and bullets in the storage compartment but no drugs.
The dealers were identified as 39 year old Boonphitak Sarawong, also known as Aun Pakdeang (Aun Red Lips), and a 29 year old man identified only as Bee. Boonphitak claimed he came to pick up drugs from a local dealer named Narate.
Police were unconvinced as Narate had been arrested. Officers continued searching and found a plastic bag under the car containing 1,000 Yaba pills.
Boonphitak eventually confessed to delivering drugs to customers and having Bee drive due to a health condition after a car accident preventing him from driving.
ThaiRath reported Boonphitak had been arrested for drug offences before, and served time in prison, but returned to dealing. Bee tested negative for drugs, proclaiming his innocence, and was released.
When asked about his nickname, Boonphitak explained that drug use darkened his lips, leading him to wear lipstick and earn the moniker “Aun Red Lips.”
Boonphitak faces two charges including:
- Section 145 of the Narcotics Control Act: possessing Category 1 drug (methamphetamine) for sale. The penalty is imprisonment from two to 20 years and a fine of 200,000 to 2 million baht.
- Section 7 of the Act on Firearms, Ammunition, Explosive, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearm: possessing a gun without permission. The punishment will be imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both.
