Fire at Bangkok condo leaves three with smoke inhalation
A fire broke out in a condominium in Bangkok, prompting a swift response from firefighters. Three individuals, including a pregnant woman, suffered from smoke inhalation.
Yesterday, September 25, the Fire & Rescue Thailand Facebook page reported a fire at a condominium in the Bangkok Noi area of the city. The incident was notified to police at 8.29pm via the 199 emergency hotline.
The blaze occurred at D Condo Tha-Chan Charansanitwong on the road adjacent to the Taling Chan railway in Bang Khun Si, Bangkok Noi district. Firefighters from the Bang Khun Non Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames emanating from a fifth-floor apartment, with thick smoke billowing out. With urgency, they used water to contain the fire within a limited area. By 8.41pm, the flames were under control, reported KhaoSod.
Initial investigations revealed three individuals were affected by smoke inhalation, including two men and a pregnant woman. They experienced chest tightness and difficulty breathing. Volunteers from a foundation transported them to Siriraj Hospital for further treatment.
In related news, a fire broke out at the bustling Kad Luang market in Chiang Mai, consuming four commercial units amidst heavy rain and rising water levels from the Ping River. The blaze started around 1am on September 24, prompting a swift response from local police and emergency services.
Police received the emergency call at the Chiang Mai Provincial Police Radio Centre and quickly coordinated with the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation officials. Firefighters arrived at the scene, a three-storey commercial building, to find thick smoke and intense flames engulfing the second and third floors.
Fire engines from nearby areas were called in for support and the Provincial Electricity Authority was contacted to temporarily cut off power to the building.
Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly two hours before bringing it under control. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported.
