Chiang Rai schools warn over child abduction vehicle alert

A warning has been issued regarding a suspected child abduction vehicle, leading to the closure of schools and increased vigilance among locals in Chiang Rai. The alert follows reports of a suspicious man attempting to abduct children yesterday, January 15.
Bunsong Tinaree, the district chief of Mueang Chiang Rai, announced an urgent radio message, labelled as ChR.0118/01, to the local administrative organisation leaders, subdistrict chiefs, and village heads. The warning came after news emerged of a suspect driving around northern Thailand schools attempting to abduct children.
This has raised significant concerns among the community for the safety of their school-aged children.
To prevent such incidents in Mueang district of Chiang Rai province, local administrative organisations have been instructed to ensure that school staff maintain strict vigilance over student safety.
Schools have been directed to keep gates closed during school hours to mitigate any risk posed by strangers entering school premises, reported KhaoSod.
Additionally, subdistrict chiefs and village heads are tasked with informing residents to be on the lookout for any suspicious individuals who might pose a threat in their areas. Should any unusual occurrences arise, they are urged to promptly report to the relevant local officials for immediate investigation.
