Body of pregnant woman found after tugboat capsizes in Ayutthaya river
Heartbroken husband watches as divers retrieve his missing wife from water

Volunteer divers discovered the body of a seven-month pregnant woman who went missing after a tugboat sank in the Pa Sak River in the central province of Ayutthaya on Tuesday, October 14. Her body was found about 200 metres away from the scene of the incident.
The capsizing of the cargo tugboat was reported at around 3.30pm on Tuesday. The boat operator, 24 year old Sirawut Phobangwai, managed to escape from the sinking vessel and searched for his pregnant wife, 21 year old Pennapaporn Maksakorn, who disappeared into the water along with the boat.
The accident reportedly occurred after Sirawut lost control of the vessel as it entered a curve in the river at high speed. He tried to regain control of the tugboat, but it lost balance and overturned. A rescue team successfully salvaged the tugboat after more than six hours of operation.
The search for Pennapaporn continued until around 3pm yesterday, when volunteer divers found her body floating near the pier of Bandai Temple, about 200 metres from the accident site.

Officers from Nakhon Luang Police Station joined the initial examination and reported no visible injuries on her body. She was wearing a black shirt, and her trousers were believed to have come off in the water.
Her husband and family are now preparing for religious rites. Witnesses said the man was seen closely following every stage of the recovery process and wept as rescuers brought Pennapaporn from the water.

The family plans to hold funeral prayers for Pennapaporn at Ruea Khaeng Temple in Bang Rakam sub-district, Nakhon Luang district, Ayutthaya.
Investigators said witnesses and those involved have already been questioned as part of legal procedures. The body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani province for a detailed autopsy before the funeral.
