A chemical factory within the Bang Pu Industrial Estate was engulfed in flames, resulting in the immediate evacuation of nearby residents. Firefighters swiftly responded to contain the blaze, clearing the area by 7.30am. The fire was reported to have originated in a chemical storage warehouse within the factory complex.

By 8.25am, reports suggested that the fire was yet to be fully controlled. In response, officials expedited the evacuation of individuals in the surrounding area. The local disaster prevention and mitigation officials, alongside the Bang Pu Municipality, provided additional support to extinguish the fire. As officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards associated with chemical storage and manufacturing. It also underscores the importance of swift and effective emergency response procedures in preventing injuries and loss of life.

Unfortunately, fire stories in Thailand are all too common.

A late-night fire at the student dormitory of Buriram Agricultural and Technology College yesterday caused significant damage to a bedroom and fertiliser storage facility. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit due to old, faulty wiring.

The Buriram Sawang Charity Rescue Centre received a distress call reporting a fire within the campus of the Buriram Agricultural and Technology College. The centre responded by dispatching a fire-fighting unit, volunteer rescue workers, and three fire engines from the Buriram Municipality. Officers from the Buriram City Police Station also attended the scene to assess and contain the situation.

Upon arrival, they found the student dormitory engulfed in flames, which had begun to spread to a nearby fertiliser storage facility. The rescue workers and municipal fire-fighting officials collaborated to extinguish the fire, a process that took approximately one hour.

Once the fire was under control, it was discovered that one of the student dormitory rooms had been completely destroyed, and a portion of the fertiliser storage facility had been damaged. Read more about the blaze, HERE.
