Ayutthaya ordination ceremony draws crowd with elephants

A lively ordination ceremony took place at Wat Pom Raman, in Ayutthaya province for the son of Manoch and Anchalee Khaokaew, renowned proprietors of a religious supply store. Their son, Akkarawit Khaokaew, was ordained with grandeur, riding into the temple on an elephant amidst a vibrant procession.
The event drew a lively crowd, including family, friends, and notable guests like Sura Saenkham, also known as Khaosai Galaxy, a former world boxing champion, who came to offer his support.
The ceremony became the talk of the town when the hosts distributed over 200 lottery tickets, which had been blessed by two prominent monks, Phra Wachirophat and Phra Kru Kasem Jantawimon, prior to distribution.
The tickets were thrown into the air for attendees, alongside more than 50,000 baht (US$1,490) in coins, as the procession circled the temple three times.
Attendees, equipped with umbrellas and plastic bags, eagerly collected the offerings, creating a festive atmosphere.
The event also featured elephants from Ayutthaya Elephant Palace, adding to the excitement as they danced rhythmically to the music, delighting both young and old spectators who joined in the dance.

The air was filled with laughter and smiles, offering a joyful experience for all. Besides the spiritual merit of the ordination, participants hoped to take home good fortune with the lottery tickets.
Those who received a ticket held onto it tightly, dreaming of a big win. Meanwhile, those who missed out took photos with their friends’ tickets, making playful promises to share any potential winnings equally, ensuring the event was filled with joy, fortune, and camaraderie, reported KhaoSod.
In similar news, devotees are flocking to Wat Khao Chong Lom in Si Racha, Chon Buri, to pay their respects to the towering 9.9-metre statue of Thao Wessuwan Thonglon, following reports of a recent lottery win attributed to the deity’s blessing.
