Krabi’s Marine National Park has temporarily closed its marine tourist attractions for four days, from September 19 to 22, due to strong winds and rough seas. The National Park raised red flags across various tourist spots in the area.

These destinations include Phi Phi Leh Island, Bamboo Island, Talay Waek, Poda Island, as well as deep and shallow diving areas around Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don Islands. Other islands in the Ao Nang subdistrict, Mueang Krabi district, are also affected.

The temporary closure, lasting until Sunday, aims to ensure the safety of tourists in light of thunderstorms and high waves exceeding 4 metres, which have made docking impossible.

This was done to avoid the continuous strong winds hitting the coast. These boats have also temporarily ceased their services to tourists.

Additionally, the ferry services between Krabi town and Phi Phi Island were suspended yesterday and today due to the rough sea conditions.

The measures have been taken in response to the severe weather conditions that pose significant risks to both tourists and service providers. Officials have urged all visitors to comply with the temporary closure and heed safety warnings.

Krabi is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning marine attractions, including the famous Phi Phi Islands. However, the region is vulnerable to sudden weather changes, particularly during the monsoon season, which can bring about severe storms and high waves.

Tour operators and local businesses have expressed understanding and support for the National Park’s decision, acknowledging that ensuring the safety of visitors is paramount. The temporary halt in services is seen as a necessary step to prevent any accidents or mishaps.

The National Park officials are closely monitoring the weather conditions and will provide updates to the public regarding the reopening of the marine tourist attractions. Tourists planning to visit Krabi are advised to stay informed about the latest developments and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
