Thai police arrest foreigners with illegal cannabis and ketamine

Thai police successfully apprehended three foreign nationals accused of selling illegal processed cannabis and ketamine, seizing over 300 kilogrammes of evidence.
Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Police Major General Noppasil Poolasawat, Deputy Commander, yesterday, April 9, instructed Police Colonel Santi Kornkasem and the crime suppression officers to carry out the arrest.
The suspects, identified as Le Quy Phuc, Nguyen Van Viet, and Mai Hung, were taken into custody along with the confiscated items, which included 305.2 kilogrammes of dried cannabis flowers of unspecified strains packaged in plastic bags, a digital weighing scale, and four bags of ketamine weighing a total of 450 grammes.
The operation was initiated following a tip-off from an informant regarding the illegal activities of the three individuals. Crime suppression officers conducted thorough investigations and gathered sufficient evidence to obtain a search warrant from the Criminal Court, allowing them to search a residence in the Chok Chai 4 area of Bangkok.
During the search, all three suspects were found inside the house. Dried cannabis flowers were discovered on both the first and second floors of the premises, packaged in plastic bags. Additionally, ketamine was found concealed in the underwear of the second suspect, stored in a clear ziplock bag.
The suspects now face charges of jointly violating laws concerning the study, research, export, sale, or processing of controlled herbs for commercial purposes, reported KhaoSod.

They are also charged with working without a permit or engaging in work beyond what is legally allowed for foreign nationals and possessing a category two narcotic, ketamine, without authorisation. The suspects and the confiscated items were taken to the Crime Suppression Division for documentation and further legal proceedings.
