A shocking incident unfolded last night when a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV veered off the road and crashed into a karaoke bar on Pracha Uthit Road in Bangkok’s Rat Burana district. The accident resulted in three injuries, including one serious case.

The 56 year old driver, Taweesap Nilkhong, claimed that she lost control of the steering, prompting police to investigate the vehicle’s system before proceeding with any legal action.

The accident occurred around 8.40pm, yesterday, December 11, when the SUV suddenly swerved, crossing the lane and crashing directly into the 12 Coins Karaoke bar. Located in a three-storey commercial building, the bar suffered extensive damage with chairs scattered and the entrance completely destroyed.

The scene was chaotic, with emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and Bangkok’s Erawan Medical Centre quickly arriving to assist the injured.

Inside the bar, Payroh Yaowkraburi, the 47 year old bar owner, was found with severe bruising and a painful headache from the impact. She was given first aid before being transported to Suksawat Hospital for further treatment.

The crash also affected the street outside, where a red electric motorcycle lay damaged. Two people were injured in this area. Busrara Saelee, a 35 year old woman, sustained multiple abrasions.

She received first aid and was taken to Paolo Phra Pradaeng Hospital. Attapol Vimanasa-ard, the 38 year old motorcycle rider, was severely injured with a fractured left thigh bone, head swelling, and a bruised left eye. He too was transported to the same hospital for urgent care.

Car crash

Boonrit Charoensap, a 36 year old man, who was riding another motorcycle behind the electric one, witnessed the incident. He stated that he saw the SUV dart out from a noodle shop on the left and cross into the karaoke bar. Taweesap, the SUV driver, explained that she had just left the noodle shop across the street, saw an empty road and intended to turn right.

However, she claimed the steering wheel wouldn’t respond, leaving her helpless as the vehicle surged forward. Despite seeing the oncoming motorcycle, she could do nothing to stop the SUV from ploughing into the bar. She expressed her shock, noting that she had never been involved in an accident before, except for minor bumps.

Payroh recounted her experience, mentioning that she was sitting on the sofa inside the bar with her young niece, who was later carried away by her sister just moments before the crash. She recalled the sudden jolt that left her upside down with a painful head and hip.

Despite the bar being open, no customers were present at the time, and her employees were upstairs having dinner, leaving her alone on the ground floor.

Footage from a dashcam on a motorcycle behind the electric bike confirmed that the SUV abruptly emerged from the noodle shop, causing the electric motorcycle to brake suddenly and collide with the SUV’s door. The impact then propelled the SUV into the karaoke bar, reported KhaoSod.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, with experts set to examine the SUV’s engine system to determine if a malfunction occurred. Only after these findings will the police proceed with legal processes.
