Gang members arrested in Bangkok assault investigation
Evidence seized as police trace ties to broader criminal network

Police apprehended several members of a gang involved in assaults on fellow nationals, with ongoing investigations focusing on two areas in central Bangkok.
The incident stemmed from conflicts dated May 5, when Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom led a team to arrest three men linked to the attacks.
Those arrested include 18 year old Chakraphat (surname withheld), a Thai Yai national, and Myanmar nationals, 21 year old Zaw Win and 19 year old Zaw Han.
The Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for all three on May 3, citing charges of joint assault causing physical harm and serious injury. Police seized four long knives, each approximately 1 foot in length, and a motorcycle from the suspects.
The case originated from a report received by Din Daeng Police Station regarding an attack on Myanmar nationals with knives outside a barbecue restaurant on Pracha Songkhro 29 Alley, Din Daeng district, Bangkok, on May 1. Several people sustained injuries.
The investigation identified a group of 10 teenagers as the perpetrators, leading to arrest warrants and subsequent capture of the three suspects.
The accused claimed they mistook the victims for people who had previously harassed them during the Songkran festival. Din Daeng police are intensifying efforts to apprehend other accomplices involved in the incident.

In related developments, areas under the jurisdiction of Huai Khwang and Sutthisan Police Stations have experienced tensions between Myanmar and Thai Yai groups, reported KhaoSod.
These groups, reportedly identified as gangs, attended a local fair in Huai Khwang, leading to confrontations. Police will continue to investigate and arrest those responsible for any criminal activities related to these conflicts.
In similar news, a crowd of friends assembled at a Bangkok police station after a 27 year old woman was attacked by a gang, sparking her mother’s determined pursuit of justice.
On May 5, footage of the assault, which took place outside an apartment on Ratchada Soi 13 in the Din Daeng district, began spreading across social media platforms.
