Bangkok police arrest two men in motorcycle thefts

Police in Bangkok’s Thakham district yesterday announced the arrest of 26 year old Khemchat from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province and 20 year old Anuchit from Bangkok.
The policeseized a red Honda PCX motorcycle used in the crime, a stolen blue Honda Wave motorcycle, a white half-helmet, and clothing worn during the incident.
The arrest took place yesterday, February 17, at 1.50am, at a rental house on Soi Suksawat 35, Soi 3, in Rat Burana district.
The arrests stemmed from a report filed on February 15 at 8.35pm by 35 year old Kanokwan, who discovered her blue Honda Wave motorcycle had been stolen from in front of Ratchapoom Clinic on Rama 2 Soi 65 in Bang Khun Thian district.

Investigators from Thakham Police Station reviewed CCTV footage of the escape route, leading them to the rental house where the suspects resided. Upon arrival, they found the red Honda PCX motorcycle parked outside.
Khemchat, also known as Ta, and Anuchit, also known as Biu, matched the suspects’ descriptions from the CCTV footage and appeared nervous, attempting to flee.
They were apprehended and confessed to borrowing a friend’s motorcycle to commit the crime and stealing the victim’s motorcycle from in front of the clinic.
The stolen motorcycle was later abandoned at the mouth of Soi Charoennakorn 65 in Dao Khanong, Thonburi. The suspects also led the police to retrieve the helmet and clothing related to the crime.
Additionally, they admitted to stealing another Honda Wave motorcycle from a Big C parking lot on Rama 2 on February 13, selling it to an acquaintance in the Bang Waek area for 6,500 baht (US$192).
Police investigations revealed that this motorcycle had already been resold. Both suspects were taken to Thakham Police Station for further questioning.
Anuchit revealed a prior arrest for theft at the age of 14. Khemchat had been arrested more than four times for theft, drug offences, and handling stolen goods, and was recently released from prison in November 2024.
They reportedly used proceeds from their crimes for personal expenses and drug purchases.
Police Colonel Komsit, the Bangkok Police Region 9 commissioner, ordered a background investigation to determine if the suspects have committed other offences. The public is invited to identify the suspects at Thakham Police Station, reported KhaoSod.
Both suspects face charges of nighttime theft using a vehicle to facilitate escape or handling stolen goods, and have been remanded to the police for legal proceedings.
