15 year old schoolboy stabs friend after girlfriend jibes (video)

A 15 year old schoolboy stabbed his friend at a temple near Matthayom Wat That Thong School in Bangkok yesterday, February 25, in anger after being repeatedly teased about his girlfriend.
Patrol officers from Khlong Ton Police Station were called to investigate a stabbing at the temple near Ekkamai BTS Station at approximately 3.35pm yesterday.
Upon arrival, officers found the attacker, 15 year old A, sitting in shock outside a temple building. The 13-inch knife used in the stabbing was on the ground nearby.
The 14 year old victim was rushed to hospital shortly before the police arrived. He sustained one stab wound to his chest and another to his arm. The chest wound was of particular concern as it nearly affected his lungs.
After questioning witnesses and other students, police reported that the two schoolboys were friends. The victim is in Grade 7 at the school, while the attacker is only in Grade 5 due to poor academic performance.

The victim repeatedly teased the attacker about his girlfriend, which eventually led to a heated argument on the day of the incident.
The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with both boys exchanging punches before the attacker suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
A worker at the temple told police that the injured boy ran to him, saying he was stabbed. Shocked, the worker immediately sought help from a nearby food vendor, asking her to contact emergency services and the police.

According to the worker, the attacker even helped administer first aid to the victim and did not attempt to flee the scene.
The attacker has been in police custody since yesterday and was charged with attempted murder. Under Thai law, attempted murder carries half the penalty of a murder charge, which ranges from the death penalty to life imprisonment, or a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years.
However, as the attacker is still a minor, the final punishment will depend on the court’s decision.
