Weather warning for 37 provinces with heavy rain forecast
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued another daily weather warning for 37 provinces today, advising residents to prepare for heavy rainfall, especially in the northern, northeastern, and central regions. The Bangkok metropolitan area is also expected to experience a 60% chance of rain.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours predicts that the monsoon trough passing over upper northern Thailand and upper Laos will move into the low-pressure area in northern Vietnam. Additionally, a moderate southwest monsoon continues to cover the upper Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the upper Gulf of Thailand, resulting in heavy rainfall in certain areas in the northern, upper northeastern, and eastern regions.
Northern Thailand is expected to see thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rain in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, and Phetchabun provinces. The temperature will range from a low of 23 to 25 degrees Celsius to a high of 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.
In the northeastern region, thunderstorms are predicted for 60% of the area, with heavy rain in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, and Nakhon Phanom provinces. Temperatures will range from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius at the lowest to 29 to 34 degrees Celsius at the highest.
Central Thailand is expected to experience thunderstorms in 60% of the area, mainly in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi provinces. The temperature will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius to 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.
The eastern region will see thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rainfall anticipated in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces. Temperatures will range from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius at the lowest to 30 to 33 degrees Celsius at the highest. The sea is expected to have waves 1 to 2 metres high, with waves rising above 2 metres in thunderstorms.
Heavy rainfall
In the southern region (east coast), thunderstorms will cover 40% of the area, primarily affecting Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. The temperature will range from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius to 31 to 35 degrees Celsius. The sea will have waves around 1 metre high, increasing to over 2 metres during thunderstorms.
The southern region (west coast) is expected to experience thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain mainly in Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi, and Phuket provinces. The temperature will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius to 30 to 33 degrees Celsius. From Phuket northwards, the sea will have waves 1 to 2 metres high, rising to over 2 metres in thunderstorms. South of Krabi, waves will be around 1 metre high, increasing to over 2 metres in thunderstorms.
Bangkok and its surrounding areas are forecasted to have a 60% chance of rain or thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from a low of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius to a high of 31 to 34 degrees Celsius.
