The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning as thunderstorms and strong winds are set to hit 46 provinces across Thailand, including Bangkok. Heavy rainfall is expected to cover 60% of affected areas, bringing risks of flash floods, lightning, and strong gusts.

Northern and northeastern Thailand will face the most intense storms due to the collision of a cold high-pressure system from China and humid air from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. This weather pattern is expected to cause sudden thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated heavy rain.

Residents are urged to stay indoors during storms and avoid open fields, tall trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should take precautions to protect crops from possible damage.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is strengthening over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, leading to rough seas and strong waves.

Fishermen and boat operators are advised to exercise caution, especially in the lower Gulf of Thailand, where waves may exceed 3 metres. Small boats in affected areas should remain ashore.

Meanwhile, air quality in the upper regions is improving, with reduced dust levels due to stronger winds and increased rainfall.
