Hot weather and thunderstorms expected in upper Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather warning for upper Thailand, predicting hot weather with potential thunderstorms and gusty winds in 28 provinces, including Bangkok. Residents should prepare for a summer storm from March 29 to April 1.
As of today, March 27, the department’s 24-hour weather forecast indicates hot to very hot conditions across upper Thailand due to a low-pressure system and southwesterly and southerly winds. This weather pattern is likely to lead to thunderstorms and strong winds in certain areas.
Residents in these regions are advised to maintain their health during this period and avoid prolonged outdoor activities. Additionally, caution is urged regarding potential thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea are currently weak, resulting in limited rainfall in the south. Waves in the Gulf and Andaman Sea are approximately 1 metre high, but may exceed 1 metre during thunderstorms.
From March 29 to April 1, a moderate high-pressure system from China is expected to cover upper Vietnam, northern Laos, northeastern Thailand, and the South China Sea. This will bring easterly and southeasterly winds, increasing moisture over upper Thailand.
In the context of already hot conditions, this will likely result in summer storms comprising thunderstorms, strong winds, hail in some areas, and occasional lightning. Residents in upper Thailand should be cautious of these summer storms and avoid travel in affected areas, open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards.
