Heavy rainfall warning issued for 42 Thai provinces
Flash flood risks rise as monsoon intensifies

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today issued a weather warning for 42 provinces across Thailand, predicting heavy rainfall in 70% of these areas.
This weather forecast highlights the potential for flash floods and landslides, especially in hilly and low-lying regions. The provinces of Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Ranong are expected to experience the most severe weather.
These conditions are influenced by a strong southwesterly monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
In the Andaman Sea’s upper region, rough seas are expected with waves reaching heights of 2 to 4 metres. Thunderstorm areas may see waves exceeding 4 metres.
The lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand can anticipate wave heights of 2 to 3 metres, with thunderstorm areas experiencing higher waves. Mariners in these regions are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in storm-affected areas. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand should remain ashore.
A powerful tropical storm, named Wipha, has moved ashore in southern Guangdong, China, with its centre located in Maoming city as of 10pm. The storm is expected to continue westward, potentially reaching the Gulf of Tonkin and Vietnam’s northern coast between July 21 and July 22.
