Heavy rain warning issued for 35 Thai provinces including Bangkok
Emergency services on alert as storm systems intensify

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather forecast warning for Thailand, highlighting 35 provinces, including Bangkok, which is expected to experience heavy rain covering 70% of the area.
Residents in Ranong, Chanthaburi, and Trat are advised to be vigilant against potential flash floods and forest runoff. This is due to a monsoon trough passing over northern and northeastern regions, combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
In the upper Andaman Sea, moderate waves reaching about 2 metres are anticipated, with thunderstorms potentially causing higher waves. The lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to have waves of 1 to 2 metres, with higher waves in stormy conditions. Mariners are advised to navigate carefully and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
In the north, thunderstorms are expected in 40% of the area, particularly in Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. Temperatures are set to range between 22 and 24°C for the lowest and 34 and 36°C for the highest, with variable winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
The northeast will see thunderstorms across 70% of the area, with heavy rainfall in Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. Temperatures will vary from 23 to 25°C for the lowest to 32 to 34°C for the highest, with variable winds at 10 to 30 kilometres per hour.
In the central region, 70% of the area will experience thunderstorms, with heavy rain expected in Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Sakhon. Temperatures will range from 23 to 25°C for the lowest to 33 to 35°C for the highest, with southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
